Το μακρινό 1968 σχηματίσθηκαν στο Λονδίνο οι Free. Η Βρετανική μπάντα έμεινε ενεργή μέχρι το 1973, με τον Paul Rodgers να αναλαμβάνει τα φωνητικά στους Bad Company. Οι Free κυκλοφόρησαν έξι full length albums, ένα ep, ένα live albums συν κάποια singles (και βέβαια οτιδήποτε κυκλοφόρησε μετά την διάλυση του συγκροτήματος).

Το τραγούδι "Free Me" είναι πιθανότατα (μαζί με το "Wishing Well") το πρωτακούσαμε στον δεύτερο (και ομώνυμο) δίσκο του συγκροτήματος που κυκλοφόρησε τον Οκτώβριο του 1969 (το δεύτερο μουσικό κομμάτι της δεύτερης πλευράς του βινυλίου). Φέρει την "υπογραφή" του Andy Fraser και του Paul Rodgers.
