Στις αρχές της δεκαετίας του ογδόντα δημιουργήθηκαν στην Γερμανία οι String Eyes. Το 1982 μετονομάσθηκαν σε Steeltower (ένα full length album συν τρία demos), αλλά μία πενταετία αργότερα (το 1987) άλλαξαν όνομα (Carrion - ένα demo) και το 1988 κατέληξαν στο Heavens Gate.
Η μπάντα έμεινε ενεργή μέχρι το 1999 κυκλοφορώντας πέντε "ολοκληρωμένους" δίσκους, τέσσερα EPs, ένα live album και δύο singles. Τον Μάρτιο του 1991 οι Γερμανοί metallers κυκλοφορούσαν τον δεύτερο δίσκο τους υπό τον τίτλο "Livin' in Hysteria".
Ακούμε τον Thomas Rettke στα φωνητικά, τον Sascha Paeth (τον οποίο έχουμε ακούσει επίσης σε δίσκους των Angra, Luca Turilli, Gamma Ray, Avantasia, Epica, Kamelot, Rhapsody, Edguy, Sieges Even, Virgo, Shaman κλπ) στην κιθάρα, τον Manni Jordan (ο οποίος απεβίωσε πέρυσι, το 2013) στο μπάσο, τον Thorsten Müller στα τύμπανα και τον Bonny B. στην κιθάρα...
