Astaroth, ένα από τα πλέον δημοφιλή ονόματα για heavy metal συγκρότημα. Υπάρχουν (τουλάχιστον) 27 μουσικά σχήματα με αυτό το όνομα. Οι Astaroth της σημερινής ανάρτησης μας έρχονται από την Ιταλία. Δημιουργήθηκαν στην Ρώμη το μακρινό 1982 και έμειναν ενεργοί για μία εξαετία (μέχρι το 1988), ενώ επανήλθαν προ εικοσαετίας (το 2005).

Έχουν κυκλοφορήσει έξι demos συν το ep "The Long Loud Silence" το 1985, ενώ με την επανασύνδεσή τους μας παρουσίασαν τον μοναδικό "ολοκληρωμένο" δίσκο τους ("The End of Silence", Δεκέμβριος 2012).

Στα μέσα του επόμενου μήνα (15 Δεκεμβρίου 2025) η δισκογραφική εταιρεία Cruz del Sur Music θα επανακυκλοφορήσει -σε cd, βινύλιο και σε ψηφιακή μορφή- το ep. Στα τέσσερα τραγούδια της αρχικής έκδοσης (Die to Be Alive, Burning the Diamond, She-wolf, Jack in the Box) προστέθηκαν ακόμη τρία (ουσιαστικά τα τρία πρώτα στην demo εκδοχή τους)...

Δελτίο τύπου: «Cruz del Sur Music proudly presents the first official re-issue of Astaroth's cult 1985 EP “The Long Loud Silence”, a milestone of Underground Heavy Metal! In the mid 80s, Astaroth was one of the brightest stars of European Heavy Metal.

With their original, ahead-of-its-time sound, they were the first Italian band ever to sign a deal with a foreign label. After years spent honing their craft both in the rehearsal room and the stage, “The Long Loud Silence” was released by Dutch entity Rave On Records. Suddenly the metal community knew that even a peripheral country like Italy could produce some fresh and brilliant Heavy Metal!

A large part of this credit goes to Jack Haustinx, the eclectic boss of Rave On Records, who had the incredible intuition of signing Mercyful Fate, Sortilege, and H-Bomb among others. The story of Astaroth is not one with a happy ending, as told by the band’s members in their own words within the liner notes accompanying this reissue.

They definitely deserved the chance of recording a full album which never happened. Nevertheless, their legacy lives on in the hearts of old (and hopefully new!) fans. The story of five young kids from the Eternal City, who dressed as Roman soldiers out to conquer their portion of glory on the battlefield of Heavy Metal.

This release is a tribute to one of the most influential and potentially ground-breaking bands to ever emerge from Italy. Legions Wanna Fight! Long live Astaroth!
