Οι Cities δημιουργήθηκαν το μακρινό 1980 στην Νέα Υόρκη από τους A.J. Pero, Sal Mayn, Steve Mironovich και Ron Angell. Το 1982 ο A.J. Pero εγκαταλείπει την μπάντα για να ενταχθεί στους Twisted Sister με τους υπόλοιπους να συνεχίζουν. Tην τριετία 1983-85 κυκλοφορούν τέσσερα demos ("Demo I", "'84 Demo", "Demo II", "Demo 1985").
Το "επίσημο" ντεμπούτο τους ήταν το ep "Annihilation Absolute" που "βγήκε" το 1985. Την επόμενη χρονιά επιστρέφει ο A.J. Pero και η μπάντα επανακυκλοφορεί το "Annihilation Absolute" ως "ολοκληρωμένο" δίσκο με την προσθήκη τριών ακόμη τραγουδιών σε σχέση με το ep ("Cruel Sea", "Shades of Black", "Deceiver") και το US Metal βρίσκει έναν από τους δίσκους που το καθόρισαν και το προσδιόρισαν.
Κάπου εκεί χάνονται τα δισκογραφική ίχνη της μπάντας, η οποία διαλύθηκε το επόμενο έτος (1987). Σύμφωνα με την ιστοσελίδα Metal Archives, το 2018 ο (μπασίστας) Sal Mayne επανέφερε το όνομα των Cities χωρίς να έχει προκύψει κάτι (δισκογραφικά τουλάχιστον) έκτοτε...
