Στο μουσικό φεστιβάλ του Waken έχουν εμφανιστεί αρκετές φορές οι Avantasia. Στεκόμαστε στην περσινή εμφάνισή τους και τους βλέπουμε - ακούμε να αποδίδουν "ζωντανά" ένα medley αποτελούμενο από τα τραγούδια "Sign of the Cross" και "The Seven Angels".
Ήταν ο επίλογος του set των Avantasia στο Wacken Open Air 2022. Μαζί τους επί σκηνής και μία πλειάδα εκλεκτών προσκεκλημένων τραγουδιστών όπως οι Ronnie Atkins, Ina Morgan, Jørn Lande, Adrienne Cowan, Eric Martin, Herbie Langhans και Bob Catley.
Σχηματίσθηκαν ως side project για την κυκλοφορία μίας metal όπερας ("The Metal Opera", "The Metal Opera pt.II"), αλλά στην πορεία μετεξελίχθηκαν σε "κανονικό" σχήμα, το οποίο συνεχίζει ακάθεκτο μέχρι τις ημέρες μας έχοντας κυκλοφορήσει εννέα "ολοκληρωμένους" δίσκους, τέσσερα EPs, εννέα singles, μία συλλογή, ένα split (μαζί με Dimmu Borgir και Sonata Arctica), τρία boxed set και ένα live album - video...
