Στο μουσικό φεστιβάλ του Waken έχουν εμφανιστεί αρκετές φορές οι Avantasia. Στεκόμαστε στην προ πενταετίας εμφάνισή τους και τους βλέπουμε - ακούμε να αποδίδουν "ζωντανά" το τραγούδι "Farewell". Το τραγούδι το γνωρίσαμε μέσα από το ντεμπούτο των Avantasia "The Metal Opera" που κυκλοφόρησε το καλοκαίρι του 2001.
Οι Avantasia δημιουργήθηκαν το 2000 από τον Tobias Sammet των Edguy. Σχηματίσθηκαν ως side project για την κυκλοφορία μίας metal όπερας ("The Metal Opera", "The Metal Opera pt.II"), αλλά στην πορεία μετεξελίχθηκαν σε "κανονικό" σχήμα, το οποίο συνεχίζει ακάθεκτο μέχρι τις ημέρες μας έχοντας κυκλοφορήσει οκτώ "ολοκληρωμένους" δίσκους, τρία EPs, εννέα singles, μία συλλογή, ένα split (μαζί με Dimmu Borgir και Sonata Arctica), τρία Boxed set και ένα live album. Το νέο του δισκογραφικό πόνημα φέρει τον τίτλο "A Paranormal Evening with the Moonflower Society" και έχει προγραμματισθεί να κυκλοφορήσει στην "καρδιά" του φθινοπώρου...
