Τον Μάρτιο του 1987 κυκλοφορούσε το single των Whitesnake "Still of the Night" (με το "Here I Go Again", "You're Gonna Break My Heart Again" στην δεύτερη πλευρά του βινυλίου). Τον επόμενο μήνα (7 Απριλίου) "βγήκε" ο δίσκος που απογείωσε τους Snakes, το ομώνυμο album (ή "1987") όπου το "Still of the Night" επιλέχθηκε ως εναρκτήριο τραγούδι (στην Ευρωπαϊκή έκδοση, η Αμερικάνικη ξεκινούσε με την επανεκτέλεση του "Crying in the Rain").
Την σύνθεση και τους στίχους υπογράφουν ο David Coverdale και ο John Sykes. Στα συν το υπέροχο βίντεο με πρωταγωνίστρια την (μετέπειτα σύζυγο του Coverdale) Tawny Kitaen. Το 2009 ο Βρετανός τραγουδιστής παραχωρώντας συνέντευξη στο Metal Hammer σχολίασε για το "Still of the Night", το οποίο βασίσθηκε σε μουσική ιδέα από παλαιό - ξεχασμένο demo των Deep Purple:
«When my mother died I was going through the stuff at her house and found some early demo cassettes. One of them was a song that Ritchie Blackmore and I had been working on which was the basic premise of what would become "Still of the Night".
It was totally unrecognizable, so Ritchie doesn't have anything to worry about... neither do I! Ha ha ha! I took it as far as I could then I gave it to Sykesy when we were in the south of France, and he put the big guitar hero stuff on there.
John hated blues so I had to work within those parameters. I manipulated to be electric blues, but how he performed it was fabulous for his time and relatively unique because of the songs. There were a lot of people doing that widdly stuff but they didn't have the quality of those songs.»
Το συγκρότημα The Iron Cross μας έρχεται από την Ρουμανία. Δημιουργήθηκε προ εξαετίας από τον κιθαρίστα Andrei Cerbu. Το 2017 η αποχώρηση αρκετών μελών έβαλε την μπάντα στον "πάγο". Δύο χρόνια αργότερα ο Andrei επαναδραστηριοποίησε τους The Iron Cross (οι οποίοι στο μεσοδιάστημα κυκλοφόρησαν το ντεμπούτο τους "Go Away") με νέα μέλη. Στο YouTube κανάλι της μπάντας υπάρχουν (και) βίντεο με διασκευές σε κλασικά rock / hard rock / heavy metal τραγούδια. Ανάμεσά τους και ο ύμνος των Whitesnake "Still of the Night"...
Bio: «The Iron Cross band was started in 2015 by Andrei Cerbu, because he wanted to play Heavy Metal. He was listening to the “parents” of this music style, like Iron Maiden, when he got the idea of making a teen band which could have limitless energy and ROCK the crowd!
They appeared on many stages in Romania, opening for groups like Trooper & Phoenix. Unfortunately, in 2017, several of the original band members moved on to other parts of their lives. So this project had to be left behind, but not forever!
The year 2019 knocked at the door and Andrei felt that it was time for a new beginning. He brought the band back to life with new members, all of them ready to ROCK! All the band members are from Iasi, Romania.
In 2018, The Iron Cross released their first album, “Go Away”, which has 7 songs. Unfortunately, because of the break this project had, it took 2 years to make an official release on all platforms of this album. You can find it on Spotify, iTunes, Amazon etc.»
