Οι Poltergeist υπάρχουν στο heavy metal σύμπαν από τις αρχές των 80ies (αρχικά ως Carrion). Ουσιαστικά η καριέρα τους χωρίζεται σε τρεις φάσεις (η πρώτη ως Carrion), καθώς διαλύθηκαν στα μέσα των 90ies κι επανήλθαν προ επταετίας. Οι Ελβετοί power / thrash metallers έχουν κυκλοφορήσει πέντε "ολοκληρωμένους" δίσκους (κι έναν ως Carrion).

Ο πέμπτος και πλέον πρόσφατος φέρει τον τίτλο "Feather of Truth" και "βγήκε" στις αρχές Ιουλίου. Αξίζει να σημειωθεί ότι από την "παλαιά φρουρά" έχουν (απο)μείνει ο τραγουδιστής André Grieder και ο κιθαρίστας V.O. Pulver...
