Το 1989 ο Kai Hansen κάνει πρώτο του βήμα εκτός Helloween κυκλοφορώντας το παρθενικό single των Gamma Ray ("Heading for Tomorrow / Space Eater"). Το επόμενο έτος (τον Φεβρουάριο του 1990) "βγήκε" και το επίσημο ντεμπούτο των υπό τον τίτλο "Heading for Tomorrow".
Στα τελειώματα εκείνης της χρονιάς κυκλοφόρησε η βιντεοκασέτα (VHS) "Heading for the East". Φιλμογραφήθηκε / ηχογραφήθηκε στο Τόκιο (Shibuya Kokaido και Shiba Mielparque Hall) στις 8 και 9 Νοεμβρίου 1990. Το επόμενος έτος (1991) "βγήκε σε Laser Disc και τα έτη 2003, 2006, 2007 σε DVD.
Το φθινόπωρο του 2015 κυκλοφόρησε και σε αποκλειστικά ηχητική έκδοση (διπλό cd). Βλέπουμε και ακούμε τους Kai Hansen (κιθάρα, φωνητικά), Uli Kusch (τύμπανα), Dirk Schlächter (κιθάρα), Uwe Wenzel (μπάσο), Jørn Ellerbrock (πλήκτρα).
