Ο κιθαρίστας του συγκροτήματος του Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Mike Campbell, δημιούργησε και ηχογράφησε ένα τραγούδι υπό τον τίτλο "The Boys of Summer". Το παρουσίασε στον Tom Petty, ο οποίος έκρινε δεν ταίριαζε με το μουσικό ύφος του δίκου "Southern Accents" που επρόκειτο να κυκλοφορήσουν οι Heartbreakers.

Ο μουσικός παραγωγός Jimmy Iovine του πρότεινε να το δείξει στον (τραγουδιστή και drummer των Eagles) Don Henley που έγραψε τους στίχους. Το εν λόγω μουσικό κομμάτι κυκλοφόρησε, ως single (με το τραγούδι "A Month of Sundays" στην δεύτερη πλευρά του βινυλίου), τον Οκτώβριο του 1984 προετοιμάζοντας το έδαφος για τον δεύτερο προσωπικό δίσκο του Don "Building the Perfect Beast".

Κάπου εδώ έρχονται οι Brainstorm και -παράλληλα- η σημερινή μας ανάρτηση, με τους Γερμανούς power metallers να διασκευάζουν το "The Boys of Summer" και τον τραγουδιστή Andy B. Franck να μας λέει σχετικά:

«Even though 'The Boys Of Summer' deals with rather nostalgic themes of 'summer love' and the memory of a past relationship, for me -at the time a 13-year-old- it was, beyond the metal anthems of the 80s, a great song that I associated with summer, girls and the corresponding feeling for many, many years.

Don Hanley and the Eagles are simply awe-inspiring. Even today, this song still evokes great memories for me, and since it's also a song about questioning the past, this track fits perfectly into our times. I'm proud that we recorded it, and maybe it will be part of a show soon. People will love it and then share memories with this, our version!»
