Arjen Anthony Lucassen - 'Our Final Song' (music video)

I. Sanctuary Island

Arjen Lucassen
We escape the chaos
Here on Sanctuary Island
A song is played and music floods the night

Our final haven
A refuge from the violence
Now darkness falls as embers light the sky

The music stops as the sun goes down
And silence fills the air
Faint shadows hide in the afterglow
Mere moments left to share
We're prepared on Sanctuary Island

The tension's rising
Here on Sanctuary Island
Our time has come
The countdown has begun

The sound of evil
Roaring in the distance
All hope now gone
We'll never see the dawn
See upcoming rock shows
Get tickets for your favorite artists

Irene Jansen, Arjen Lucassen
The music stopped as the sun went down (We see the sun going down)
And silence filled the air (In this place devoid of violence)
Faint shadows hid in the afterglow (They are hiding from the danger)
Mere moments left to share (We're prepared here on Sanctuary Island)

II. Flight of the Asteroid

Irene Jansen
Behold, don't miss the show
Here we go, look at that glow
Bring it on!

Behold, don't miss the show
Here we go, look at that glow
Bring it on!

III. Regrets

Arjen Lucassen
His endless days filled with regret
Mistakes he can't forget
A life so hard, a life unfulfilled
A scarred man plagued by guilt

He should have told her but
Words would never come
Every lie a secret war
He believed he'd won
He thought the truth would break her
Tear her world apart, it's pointless now
This precious time is all we've got

She had a lie
She buried in shame
A child born his in name

He always knew something felt wrong
The truth held in the dark

Irene Jansen
She should have told him and so many times she tried
Or she could have let him know instead of all the lies
She thought the truth would break him
Tear his world apart, it's pointless now
This precious time is all we've got

IV. A Really, Really Bad Day

instrumental

V. Anger and Acceptance

Robert Soeterboek, Marcela Bovio
The earth will burn, whatever we do
Wiped out, you're all screwed
I stand my ground, never give in
Don't fight a fight, you can't win
We're all deranged, we're insane
Face up, you can't escape
We'll break away, out of this place
You'll die in a fiery grave

Arjen Lucassen
Here we stand on the shoreline
Underneath a blood red sky
Burning bright, its reflection on the sea
A deadly light yet so serene
Our world seems small
Now it dominates the sky
Its fire consumes the night
Time is still, and in some way we feel so strong as we sing
Our final song

Robert Soeterboek, Marcela Bovio
I won't waste time, trying to pray
That's right, accept your fate
I can't believe we're all gonna die
Back down, say your goodbyes

There's no way to stay alive
Can't stop the funeral fire
Blast that rock out of the sky
Too late, you're all gonna fry

Arjen Lucassen
And me, I'm out here all alone
I'm free, as music fills my soul
Inspiration madly flows I feel no fear
Writing songs no one will hear

VI. This is the End

Arjen Lucassen
This is the end
The end of humanity
The end of a dream
The end of a race

This is the end
The end of existence
The end of our reign
A moment in space

This is the end
The end of utopia
The end of all pain
The end of disease

This is the end
The end of an era
The end of regret
Of all we achieved

Arjen Lucassen, Irene Jansen
This is the end (The end of prosperity)
The end of a race (The end of the wars)
This is the end (The end of our history)
A moment in space (What was it all for?)
This is the end (The end of our paradise)
The end of all grief (The end of despair)
This is the end (The end of emotions)
Of all we achieved (The end of...)

*Meteor crashing into Earth*

Spoken Interlude: Michael Mills

"Oh, my god, it happened! I can't believe it actually happened! Guys, I really doubt anyone will hear this but by strange chance if anyone's still listening, thank you. And remember, always look on the bright side of-"

Arjen Lucassen
Would we evolve, transcend and persevere?
We'll never know
Or would we fail, burn out and disappear?
We'll never know
Maybe one day we'd reach out for the stars
Were we alone?
We'll never know

VII. The Last Embrace

instrumental

Spoken Outro: Peter Daltrey

"Mission complete. Let the new phase begin."

Songs No One Will Hear
Τον Arjen Anthony Lucassen τον έμαθα ως τον κιθαρίστα των Vengeance ακούγοντας τους δίσκους "Take It or Leave It" και "Arabia" (αργότερα άκουσα και τα προγενέστερα albums).

Άκρως ενεργός (μουσικά και δισκογραφικά) ο Arjen έχει δημιουργήσει ή μετάσχει σε πλειάδα projects / συγκροτημάτων όπως οι (προαναφερθέντες) Ayreon, Star One, Stream of Passion, The Gentle Storm, Ambeon, Simone Simons, Vengeance, Supersonic Revolution, Guilt Machine κλπ.

Παράλληλα κυκλοφορεί και προσωπικούς δίσκους, υπό το όνομά του. Η αρχή έγινε το μακρινό 1993 ("Pools of Sorrow ~ Waves of Joy") και ακολούθησαν τα full length albums "Strange Hobby" (1996), "Lost in the New Real" (2012).

Μεταξύ αυτών η (θεά) Floor Jansen (τραγουδά στο "We'll Never Know"), ο Robert Soeterboek που συνεισφέρει φωνητικά στο "Our Final Song" (ποιος θυμάται τους Ολλανδούς Vulture που έδρασαν στα 80ς - αρχές 90ς;) και η Marcela Bovio (επίσης φωνητικά στο "Our Final Song")...

Δελτίο τύπου: «TWhat would you do if you knew the world was ending in five months? This profound question lies at the heart of Arjen Lucassen's latest creation, Songs No One Will Hear.

A sonic trip that follows humanity's final days as a catastrophic asteroid barrel toward Earth, the album blends dark humor, raw emotion, and the chaotic, surreal nature of the end times.

Some people panic, some throw parties, others fall apart—but a few find peace amidst the chaos. “It’s tragic, it’s absurd, it’s the soundtrack to the apocalypse.

Songs No One Will Hear is an eclectic masterpiece, drawing from a broad range of styles-rock, prog, pop, electronic, and acoustic—infused with both light-hearted moments and deep, emotional intensity.

It explores the full spectrum of human emotion, from intense panic to unexpected serenity, with Arjen’s signature blend of complexity and accessibility.

Fans will experience a guitar-driven, modern, and more prog-oriented sound, evoking the energy and feeling of his earlier Ayreon work while maintaining a tight, conceptually focused narrative.

The album features more guitar solos, more female vocals, and a more band-like atmosphere than his previous release, creating a sound that is dynamic and more immediate.

This isn’t just a collection of songs, it’s a concept album that encapsulates the final days before the asteroid strikes, full of twists, turns, and a relentless energy that mirrors the impending doom.

Arjen worked tirelessly to produce and record everything himself, capturing the vision of this apocalyptic soundscape from start to finish.

Highlights include stunning vocal contributions from Floor Jansen (on "The Clock Ticks Down") and a wide array of guest performers like Robert Soeterboek, Marcela Bovio, Patty Gurdy on hurdy-gurdy, and Mike Mills narrating a chilling moment of the story.

Songs No One Will Hear is a stunning addition to Arjen Lucassen's already legendary body of work. Immerse yourself in the final soundtrack of humanity.»
