Το μακρινό 1975 ο Ian Gillan ψάχνοντας το νέο μουσικό μονοπάτι δημιούργησε τους Ian Gillan Band, οι οποίοι τρία χρόνια αργότερα (και μετά από τρία full length albums και ένα live album) μετονομάσθηκαν σε "σκέτο" Gillan.
Ο δίσκος "Future Shock" ήταν το τέταρτο full length album των πρώην (και νυν καθώς επέστρεψε) τραγουδιστή των Deep Purple και κυκλοφόρησε τον Απρίλιο του 1981, με τον τίτλο να είναι εμπνευσμένος από το ομότιτλο βιβλίο του Alvin Toffler.
Την σύνθεση της μπάντας του Ian στον εν λόγω μουσικό δίσκο συμπληρώνουν ο Bernie Tormé (ο οποίος μέσα στην χρονιά αποχώρησε για να αντικατασταθεί από τον Janick Gers), ο Colin Towns στα πλήκτρα, ο John McCoy στο μπάσο και ο Mick Underwood (The Outlaws, Episode Six, Quatermass κλπ) στα τύμπανα.
Το τραγούδι "New Orleans" (το έκτο και τελευταίο της πρώτης πλευράς του βινυλίου) είναι διασκευή. Αποτελεί δημιούργημα του Frank Guida και του Joseph Royster και κυκλοφόρησε τον Σεπτέμβριο του 1960 ως single του τραγουδιστή Gary U.S. Bonds (του Gary Levone Anderson δηλαδή) με το τραγούδι "Please Forgive Me" στην δεύτερη πλευρά του βινυλίου.
Στην παρούσα ανάρτηση θα παρακολουθήσουμε τον Ian Gillan και το συγκρότημά του να αποδίδει το εν λόγω μουσικό κομμάτι στις 26 Μαρτίου 1981, στην εκπομπή του BBC "Top of the Pops"...
