Οι Stratovarius (σύντμηση της κιθάρας Stratocaster και του βιολού Stradivarius δημιουργήθηκαν το μακρινό 1984 από τον Tuomo Lassila, τον John Vihervä και τον Staffan Stråhlman αρχικά ως Black Water. Stratovarius ονομάσθηκαν το επόμενο έτος (1985) με "νονό" τον Lassila.

Το τραγούδι "Future Shock" ήταν ουσιαστικά αυτό που μας σύστησε την Φινλανδική μπάντα.

Πρόκειται για το εναρκτήριο τραγούδι στο demo του 1987, κυκλοφόρησε αυτόνομα ως single to 1988 (με το "Witch-Hunt" στην δεύτερη πλευρά του επτάιντσου βινυλίου) και παράλληλα ήταν το εναρκτήριο μουσικό κομμάτι στο πρώτο full length album (και επίσημο ντεμπούτο) των Stratovarius "Fright Night" που "βγήκε" τον Μάιο του 1989.

Στην εκτέλεση του τραγουδιού στο demo οι Stratovarius είναι τρίο (Jyrki Lentonen - μπάσο, Tuomo Lassila - τύμπανα, Timo Tolkki - φωνή και κιθάρα), ενώ στην εκτέλεση στο single και στο "Fright Night" προστέθηκε ο πληκτράς Antti Ikonen...
