Το "Jacob's Ladder" είναι ένα από τα ωραιότερα τραγούδια στο ευρύτερο φάσμα της "σκληρής" μουσικής. Το πρωτακούσαμε στον δίσκο των (υπέρτατων θεών) Rush "Permanent Waves" που κυκλοφόρησε τον Ιανουάριο του 1980 (το τελευταίο κομμάτι της πρώτης πλευράς για όσους έχουν το βινύλιο). Ο (drummer και στιχουργός των Rush) Neil Peart είχε πει για το τραγούδι:
Οι Imperial Triumphant μας έρχονται από την Νέα Υόρκη. Τριμελές συγκρότημα το οποίο σχηματίσθηκε πριν από 18 χρόνια και μας συστήνεται κάπως έτσι: «Born in the metropolis: Imperial Triumphant embodies the sounds of New York City. From top floor luxury to the rotten underground.»
Οι Imperial Triumphant έχουν κυκλοφορήσει πέντε "ολοκληρωμένους" δίσκους, ένα demo, τέσσερα EPs, ένα live album και μία... ενδεκάδα singles. Ποια η σύνδεση του τραγουδιού των Rush με τους Αμερικανούς metallers; Η διασκευή που επιχείρησαν οι δεύτεροι και μας λένε σχετικά:
«Whereas most of the ideas we were dealing with this time were on the lesser side, and in some cases, like in "Jacobs Ladder", looked at as a cinematic idea.
We created all the music first to summon up an image - the effect of Jacob's Ladder - and paint the picture, with the lyrics added, just as a sort of little detail, later, to make it more descriptive.»

«Ascension towards a higher place through twelve ancient steps of Jacob's Ladder. Rush's influence is undoubtedly far and wide in so much heavy music, and although we consider our music quite different from theirs, a strong thread holds it all together.
As big fans of their giant body of work, we wanted to include a song in our cover series to pay tribute to this great unique band. We also wanted the cover image to reflect the legendary "Permanent Waves" artwork»
