Το μακρινό 1989 ο Kai Hansen κάνει πρώτο του βήμα εκτός Helloween κυκλοφορώντας το παρθενικό single των Gamma Ray. Επρόκειτο για δωδεκάιντσο βινύλιο ("βγήκε" και σε cd) το οποίο στην πρώτη πλευρά είχε μία "πετσοκομμένη" έκδοση του "Heading for Tomorrow" συν το "Space Eater" και στην δεύτερη ολόκληρο το "Heading for Tomorrow".
Στο ξεκίνημα του επόμενου έτους το τραγούδι "Space Eater" βρίσκεται και σε άλλο single ("επτάρι" αυή την φορά), με την μπαλάντα "The Silence" στην δεύτερη πλευρά. Τον Φεβρουάριο του 1990 το "Space Eater" αποτελεί μέρος του πρώτου "ολοκληρωμένου" δίσκο των Gamma Ray υπό τον τίτλο "Heading for Tomorrow".

«This rare video goes back to the very beginning of Gamma Ray. Released in 1990, the album was the first release by Kai Hansen after leaving Helloween. A curiosity: the very first edition of the album was attributed to Kai Hansen. Inside a LP sized overcover, fans would discover the Gamma Ray name for the first time, through the cover we all know.
The album was remastered in 2015 and reissued as part of the “25 years of Gamma Ray” celebration with a second CD full of rarities. The video has been restored and the audio is the most recent remastered version. Enjoy!»
