Derek Lawrence discusses the genesis of Deep Purple in 1968
Ο Derek Lawrence ήταν μουσικός παραγωγός, γνωστότερος για την συνεργασία του με συγκρότηματα όπως οι Deep Purple (τρία πρώτα τους albums), οι Wishbone Ash και οι Jethro Tull. Στα τέλη του 1967 έκανε την παραγωγή για το πρώτο single των Jethro Tull, "Sunshine Day".
Το καλοκαίρι του 1968 γνώρισε την πρώτη του επιτυχία, κάνοντας παραγωγή στο single των Deep Purple, "Hush". Επίσης έκανε την παραγωγή στους; δίσκους "Shades of Deep Purple", "The Book of Taliesyn" και "Deep Purple". Στις αρχές της δεκαετίας του εβδομήντα ηχογράφησε τους δίσκους "Wishbone Ash", "Pilgrimage", "Argus" και "Live Dates" των Wishbone Ash.
Το 1976 ο Derek Lawrence μετακόμισε στην Αμερική όπου εργάστηκε σε δίσκους των συγκροτημάτων Angel και Fist. Απεβίωσε στις 13 Μαΐου 2020. Στην παρούσα ανάρτηση θα τον παρακολουθήσουμε, σε τρία βίντεο, να ανακαλεί μνήμες από τα ξεκινήματα των Deep Purple...
