Το 1983 ο Thomas Börje Forsberg (γνωστότερος στους metal κύκλους ως Quorthon) δημιούργησε τους Bathory. Παρουσιάστηκαν στο κοινό μέσω της παρουσίας τους (με δύο τραγούδια) στην συλλογή "Scandinavian Metal Attack" που κυκλοφόρησε στις 19 Ιανουαρίου του 1984.

Στην εν λόγω συλλογή βρίσκουμε την πρώιμη μορφή των τραγουδιών "Sacrifice" και "The Return of the Darkness and Evil", τα οποία στην συνέχεια "βρήκαν τον δρόμο τους" και σε επίσημες κυκλοφορίες των Bathory. Στο ομώνυμο ντεμπούτο (Οκτώβριος 1984) το πρώτο και στον δίσκο "The Return......" (Μάιος 1985) το δεύτερο...
