Metal De Facto - "Legionnaires’ Oath" (acoustic version)

Here we stand
Face to face
With our enemies
Cold morning mist
Shall bury their bodies
On blood-soaked fields

We have all given
The oath before the Gods
We are here
To fulfill our part
(Our part to soldier on)
We shall fight!
We shall die!
We shall give all for Rome
‘Cause the Empire shall not fall

The charge begins
I throw my spear
Bracing the first blow
My shield holds
I feel my steel
Cut to my enemy’s bone

We have all given
The oath before the Gods
We are here
To fulfill our part
(Our part to soldier on)
We shall fight!
We shall die!
We shall give all for Rome
‘Cause the Empire shall not fall

A quarter of a century
Fighting for my country
Today it all comes to an end
My brothers in arms, farewell

The Empire shall not fall

Δελτίο τύπου: «Finnish power metal band Metal De Facto are set to release their brand new 5-track EP titled ”Legionnaires’ Oaths” on February 8th, 2021. The EP’s release celebrates the 1 year anniversary of their debut album ’Imperium Romanum’, which was also released as a limited vinyl pressing in January as a part of the celebrations.

The EP contains the fourth and final single for the album ’Legionnaires’ Oath’, as well as an acoustic version, which is accompanied by a brand new music video filmed at the legendary Beaver Bar in Helsinki.

The bar is very well known to most metalheads in the Helsinki area, and it served as a perfect setting for the tavern-like feel we were looking for this acoustic music video!” comments the band’s lead singer Mikael Salo.

The band also had fun in the studio with 3 cover songs: Shakira’s "Whenever Wherever" featuring Nitte Valo (Dreamtale, ex-Battle Beast), Type O Negative's "My Girlfriend's Girlfriend" featuring Juha Kupiainen (De Lirium’s Order) and Dohatsuten’s "Ginga Densetsu Weed”, the opening song to an anime series of the same name where the band’s lead singer Mikael sang the song completely in Japanese!

I used to study as an exchange student in Japan and picked up some of the language back then. My good friend from those times Nikolas Kiili helped out with the pronunciations, and I think the end result turned out real epic with the choirs and everything!” adds Mikael.

The band was formed in late 2017 by Esa Orjatsalo (ex-Dreamtale) and Sami Hinkka (Ensiferum), who had met and discussed the deeper meanings of power metal in Ensiferum's tour bus. The line-up was soon completed with Atte Marttinen (ex-Kivimetsän Druidi), Benji Connelly (Everfrost), Mikko Salovaara (Leverage) and Mikael Salo (Everfrost). The band promises to “Make Power Metal Great Again” with their powerful sound and epic concepts, ones that deal with different historical themes and mythologies.

The idea was that every album would have a theme based on a certain country’s / culture's history and mythology. The debut album will deal with the Roman Empire and the many tales, true stories and philosophies associated with it. Each song is about a different aspect of this grand topic, and while being enjoyable as escapist storytelling in itself, also delves into the mindset of the different characters and people from whose perspectives the songs are written.»
