Η Σαρδηνία (Sardegna) είναι το δεύτερο μεγαλύτερο νησί στη Μεσόγειο Θάλασσα (πρώτη η Σικελία, τρίτη η Κύπρος) και αυτόνομη περιοχή της Ιταλίας. Η επίσημη ονομασία της είναι Regione Autonoma della Sardegna / Regione Autònoma de Sardigna (Αυτόνομη Περιφέρεια Σαρδηνίας).
Οι κάτοικοί της, στα Ιταλικά, αποκαλούνται "Σάρντι" (Sardi). Η αυθεντική γλώσσα της Σαρδηνίας είναι τα "sardu", μια Ρωμανική γλώσσα, ενώ στο νησί ομιλούνται κατά κύριο λόγο τα Ιταλικά και στη μικρή πόλη του Αλγέρο τα Καταλανικά, απομεινάρι της Καταλανικής κατάκτησης.
Από την Σαρδηνία μας έρχονται οι Shardana. Δημιουργήθηκαν πριν από δώδεκα χρόνια «with the intent of creating a metal band with epic and battling sounds, merging a Heavy Metal sound with Black and Viking ones» (κατά πως λένε οι ίδιοι). Από που εμπνεύσθηκαν το όνομά τους;
«Historically speaking, Shardana was the name of the Sardinian pirates who sailed the Mediterranean sea in the second millennium BCE. Their history inspires the songwriting of the band to a large degree, and the lyrics are about the glorious courage and legendary pride of those people who contributed so much to increase the influence of Sardinia at the times of pharaoh Ramses or during the roman empire.»
Έχουν κυκλοφορήσει ένα ep και δύο "ολοκληρωμένους" δίσκους. Ο πιο πρόσφατος φέρει τον τίτλο "Milli Annos" και "βγήκε" στις αρχές του μήνα...
