Το 1984 δημιουργήθηκαν στην Γερμανία οι Tartaros. Έναν χρόνο μετά (και την κυκλοφορία ενός demo) μετονομάσθηκαν σε Exumer συνεχίζοντας μέχρι τις ημέρες μας (με αρκετά διαλείμματα όμως). Έχουν κυκλοφορήσει πέντε "ολοκληρωμένους" δίσκους, τρία demos και δύο συλλογές.

Το πιο πρόσφατο δισκογραφικό τους πόνημα τιτλοφορείται "Hostile Defiance" και "βγήκε" πέρυσι, αλλά εμείς θα σταθούμε στον προηγούμενο δίσκο "The Raging Tides" (κυκλοφόρησε προ τετραετίας) καθώς η μπάντα παρουσίασε βίντεο με τον Marc Bräutigam να παίζει με την κιθάρα του το τραγούδι "Brand of Evil"...
