Στα τέλη του περασμένου Αυγούστου οι Metallica ολοκλήρωσαν την περσινή καλοκαιρινή τους περιοδεία με καταληκτική συναυλία στο Mannheim της Γερμανίας. Το τελευταίο τραγούδι (τόσο της συναυλίας, όσο και της περιοδείας) ήταν το πλέον αναγνωρίσιμο κομμάτι τους (κι από τα πλέον αναγνωρίσιμα στην ιστορία του heavy metal) "Enter Sandman.

Το γνωρίσαμε μέσα από τον ομώνυμο δίσκο των Metallica (ή αλλιώς "Black Album") που κυκλοφόρησε τον Αύγουστο του 1991 (το εναρκτήριο τραγούδι). Λίγες ημέρες πριν (29 Ιουλίου 1991) είχε κυκλοφορήσει και αυτόνομα ως single. Τους στίχους έγραψε ο James Hetfield κι αναφέρονται στους παιδικούς εφιάλτες...
