The song is about a fire that took place in Brescia, Italy in 1769 when a lightning struck the church of San Nazaro claiming the lives of 3,000 faithful sheep. Churches at the time refused to install the recently invented lightning rods. Priests and bishops believed such tools were against god's will... Apparently god was not in a good mood that day. Fire he shouted and fire spitted without mercy. Fire!
